All the team at Saxon Trust (previously Calmez) will be cheering on our QS, Sarah Chapman (above right), and her playing partner Rebecca O’Grady, when they compete this week in the final of the American Golf Ladies Championship.

The finals will take place on the 8th and 9th September at the prestigious Belfry Golf course, synonymous for its rich tournament history including hosting of the Ryder Cup.

Sarah and Rebecca qualified for the final after finishing second in a regional qualifying event at Wexham Park Golf Club and will now face other qualifiers from all over the UK and Ireland. As well as facing very tough fellow competitors in the qualifying, the pair also had to contend with severe bad weather and an event that had to be shortened to 9 holes. Nevertheless, they scored an excellent 20 points which matched the eventual winners, Suzie Hedges and Kathryn Naylor. A final analysis of the score cards meant that Sarah and Rebecca narrowly missed out on the winning spot by having just 2 points fewer in the last 6 holes.

The finals, being played in front of Sky Sports’ cameras, will be over two days and will put the pair in contention to take the title of Best Ladies Pair in the UK and to compete the Tournament of Champions in Mauritius.

American Golf is Europe’s largest golf retailer with over 100 stores across the UK and Ireland. The company has sponsored a range of golf championships over the past two years and has introduced five new events in 2017 including American Golf Family, Par 3, Adventure Golf, Scratch and 9 Hole Individual Championships. Entry to all events is free and part of the retailer’s promotion to encourage more people playing golf.

We all wish Sarah and Rebecca the best of luck and trust you’ll have a great experience at such an iconic venue. We’ll be watching avidly!!
